If abortion is illegal, people will still look for 'back-alley' abortionists. At least if its legal, the procedure can be done in a sterile environment.

How many groups do we give the power of life and death to? The military, the police, and the courts. Do you really think it's a good idea to add a group as large and variable as pregnent women? How about if we also include fathers?

Hey! YEAH. Why not give fathers the right to 'abort' their kids up to the age of 18? That way, at least we know that we're just getting rid of gang bangers, druggies, and various other trash. We can make sure that only star atheletes and cheerleaders with a 4.5 GPA are the only kids we keep!

YEAH, I LIKE IT!!!

Until science can prove definitively that life starts at conception, I doubt that we will ever see the day when abortion is COMPLETELY illegal. I'll settle with just less easy to get. Right now, because it is SO easy, girls/women don't really have to consider other options...not take at least some responsibility for their actions. If abortion was more inconvenient...more difficult to get legally...they would have to be more careful. Right now, there are little consequences. I'd just settle for making it as difficult to get as...oh, say as breast implants or liposuction.

Edit: Saying you don't want to impose your beliefs on someone else is such a cop-out. Do you believe murdering another human being already outside the womb is wrong? Some people have no problem with murdering anyone. What gives you the right to impose your moral belief on them? Some people believe that women should be the property of their men and can even be killed at the whim of their "master." Assuming you believe THAT is wrong, what gives you the right to impose that moral belief system on someone else? Again...cop-out.

no ones gonna make it illegal. People just protest about it, but once they get hit by a horrifying situation that involves bringing a child into the world then they'd definetly look up abortion if they thought they child would not have a good future infront of them.
Problems can be caused by:
1)Major lack of money
2)Way to early and no support from dad or parents
3)abusive situations at home
4)situation to do with rape

other solutions that don't really work:
Forster home Consequences:
When child is older it will feel abandoned and unwanted almost as if they do not know who they are anymore.
Boleive me they will eventually find out the genetics are not the same.
Many cases this will also devastate the foster parents because they will feel as if their "child" which isn't their actual child is growing apart from them..

so many consequences, but everyone does deserve a chance to live.

To tell you the truth i was born into an abusive houshold with the father as being the abuser. I went through many horrific years that involved bruises, permenent scars mentally, being followed, and running away. I wouldn't hate my mother if she aborted me. I wouldn't have to suffer through all that and she wouldn't be attached to him in any way which makes her stay near him...
Now we're happy.
10 years later.
It's not always worth all that suffering, but hey if your up for a big challenge then go ahead.

The rich have always had access to safe abortions. And they always will have them and so will poor women who want them, but theirs will hold enormous risk.

My mother, who was born in 1930, often talked about aunts and other women she knew who were sterile because of the illegal, unsafe abortions.

Making it illegal will leave poor women once again seeking unsafe abortions. Abortions will go on whether they are legal or not. So why not leave it legal?

If one is really concerned with saving human life, throw your efforts into stopping wars which affect human life on a much larger, destructive scale.

Your absolutely right. Even if abortion is illegal, people will still go to back alley abortionists. Which can cause both the mother and baby to die. So ... making abortion illegal isn't really helping anyone.
Im against using abortion as a form of birth control. But if its a matter of rape, incest or abuse or something along that area then abortions should be legal. Or there will be alot of trash can babies and orphans.

They already know that.

In addition to dictating what rights someone else have, which is religious, and even the Catholic church has never said terminating a pregnancy is not immoral and is not the reason the Catholic Church opposes it, they are so hypocritical.

Just as soon as a person they make has a child and can't afford it, they are so Christian that all they do is complain about having to provide some support, and love to label the mother's, that they made. as something worse than a cheat!

They remind me of Pontious Pilot!

Billy, it IS NOT A LIFE! A potential one perhaps.

What ARE REALLY LIVES, OR WERE, are those coming home from Iraq in body bags over oil!

You may think it is a "moral" issue, but it is much more than that. If you believe in evolution, then you cannot approve of abortion, unless you are OK with weakening the human race.

Abortion is "artificial selection". I mean, what if you abort the next Einstein or Mozart?

exactly. pre-roe, women were dying by the hands of back-alley butchers wanting to make a quick buck, or they were dying by their own hands via DIY abortions. abortions need to remain safe and legal. the problem is not the legality of abortions, but what leads up to them. we need to focus on birth control, education and support for women who choose to keep their pregnancies.

If you believe that abortion is essentially murder, it makes sense that it should be illegal just like murdering someone who's already been born. People still shoot each other in back alleys, but should we throw up our hands and say, "Oh well, people still kill each other no matter what. Why bother? Let's just make murder legal."

Abortion is obviously someones personal choice. In my opinion the women who choose to get an abortion are selfish and do not think that the consequences involved with having sex applies to them. There are exceptions of course, rape and incest are horrible and that in no way is something you chose and therefore I believe you shouldn't have to carry a baby you had no control over.
