Before the frost sets in - and no later than the end of October to give it a good chance to settle in and this way when you're watering it in the new roots won't freeze. Don't forget to lay it on a good bed of sand that has been firmed up by shuffling on it, and make sure that the underneath is weed free otherwise they will start to show through really quickly. AND stay off the newly laid turf for at least two weeks - longer if possible - and water every two or three days during dry spells. Hope this helps and have a nice day.

Turf can be laid all year round except in frosty conditions . the ideal time is late autumn, This gives it several months to bed in without risk of drought, which causes many problems, including bare patches, and shrinkage. In fact grass is always growing, it just slows down in winter.

Technically, you can lay turf anytime.
Actually - you really want to be laying it when it's in growth or about to be - give it less time to die with no nutrients!
So - best times are anytime between March (beginning of growth season) and September (end of growth season).
However, growing seasons are extending (climate change) so earlier & later appear to be OK - and it also depends where you live.
