baby jessica custody battle?

i remember years ago a story of a woman giving her baby to a set of parents who named her jesica deboer i believe. then dan jessicas biological father came into the picture and i believe a bitter custody fued erupted and this precious 2 or 3 yr old were given back to the biological parents. i remember being angry and wondering why a court would rip a chld from parents after 2 or 3 yrs. does anyone know what happened to this little girl and how she is doing

Yes, the little girl was given up for adoption to the DeBoer's who had her for 2 1/2 years. The natural father was not informed of the adoption and the natural mother changed her mind about giving the child up. The natural father's name was Schmidt. He and the natural mother were eventually married and the DeBoer's lost their battle to win Jessica back. Jessica was renamed Anna and was raised by the Schmidts. She is now about 17 years old and has no memory of the DeBoers. She is said to be doing fine with her natural family. (Robby DeBoer, the adoptive father, wrote a book called, "Losing Jessica".)
