the end of the season??? Go be Jewish on your own time. If you want to write that into your season, you should be docked a days pay, anyone else agree with me? Especially if your team is in the middle of a playoff race?

Not trying to be religiously insensitive, this goes for ALL PLAYERS who take off for religious purposes.

Good point, us Christians play sports on Christmas Day, NHL games, NBA, NFL, whatever, and no one says, I'm taking off because of Jesus' Birthday, I like it's wrong for Jews to take off on their holidays and extremely selfish.

Why???? Christians don't take off for Dec. 25... Jews are so f'ing selfish and self-centered.

I'm not Jewish, but this holiday is pretty big to the religion.
We play basketball though on Christmas, right? I have no idea why their are exceptions, but there are many differences between all religions so it's not a big deal. In fact, why should we care if people choose religion over their profession? 1st ammendment. Freedom of religion!

Religions aside, how much help is Green right now to the Mets anyway? Hell, 45 RBI's! That's it?
The Mets are much better off with Milledge or even Chavez out there!
Or is this rant of religion on Green an outrage a certain franchise (Phillies) with a total loss count of about 10,000 is about to be on the winning side of one of the worst blown leads in recent history?

I have no problem with Shawn Green taking off one day for his religious beliefs. This is the Jewish's holiest day and a day of atonement for them. Besides, a baseball team consists of 25 players, not "1 plus 24". It's also a good time in the season to do this as rosters were expanded on September 1st.

1)Sandy Koufax 2) Hank Greenberg. Rod Carew was not Jewish ethnically, but converted to Judaism. In any case, Carew was the second best contact hitter Ive ever seen(next to Tony Gwynn), an often times overlooked great. Then, Shawn Green(man, he sure has fallen off the last few years, hasn't he?). Ryan Braun is Jewish?

It's not like he is punching a time clock so they dont dock ball players. They have a contract for the year whether they play or not. With the behavior of some of the ball players, I'd rather see one who at least respects his religious traditions. I dont think one game will make or break the season at this point.

God is more important then baseball even though I think they are full of it. I would think God wants you on the field helping your team to victory. To me holidays are kind of pointless, I mean it is a good reason to kick back but honestly this day is no different from some other day expecially when you consider the age of the multiverse. Who knows what day this is anyways?

You *are* religiously insensitive. Try reading what the Days of Awe mean in Judaism and then apologize.
