There are plenty. You just have to know where to look.

Something that can be registered as a moped? First that depends on your state, some seem to define moped by top speed rather than whether or not it has pedals. Either way, you'll be limited to 50cc and 30MPH (might be 35), and the only maker of a 50cc scooter motorcycle (scooter engine and trans, motorcycle body) is CPI (http://www.cpi-usa.com/products/products.php?model=scooter&type=GTR&cc=50), most scooter companies do a 250 although the occasional 150 shows up in the line.

15-20 years ago when I lived in Florida, I saw a motorcycle which looked an awful lot like your typical crotch-rocket (but a little smaller), had a five-speed manual transmission, and a top speed of about 50mph. However, it only had a 49.9cc engine so it was classified as a moped under Florida law. I'm sorry to say I don't know the model name but I think it was made by Yamaha.

i'm not sure about mopeds that look like motorcycles. are you talking about mopeds as in motor-pedal or just 50 cc scooters?
You can for sure find a 50 cc pocket bike that can go pretty fast and looks exactly like a motorcycle. some are smaller than others. some have headlights and can be streetlegal. where I live i can ride mine on the street as long as you're 16 and have a dot helmet.

You can find the information you seek in a book called "Funky Mopeds". They are "sport" mopeds of the 70s. Strange, I remember these bikes and it doesn't seem that long ago.
