is it true or false?

help plz?

A 1:3 ratio means that there should be 3 hydrogen atoms per molecule of the compound.

in CH3COOH, I count 4 hydrogen atoms per molecule. The answer is false.

false. the molar ratio between the compound and its H atoms is one to four. Each molecule of the stuff has four H atoms. Three are on the first carbon and one is on the other carbon. Three and one are four.

think of it like this what if you are a shoe maker who makes shoes to order. they call in and say "we got a party of 5 people". well you know you gotta make 10 shoes becaue the ratio of feet is 2 feet per person means ten shoes for five persons. then they throw in the word dozen on you and say now we got five dozen persons. it just means you need 10 dozen shoes. its still a ratio of two shoes for each one person.

same with that c2h4o2 molecule in your problem. it has four hydrogen atoms in each molecule. thats a four to one ratio. now lets ratchet the numbers up to mol sizes. the whole thing all togher is a molecule but if you just look at a piece of it , like just the c, then your looking at an atom. and if you look at 6 gozillion of them instead of just looking at one of them, then your looking at a mol. A mol of some thing just means
600000000000000000000000 of them. a dozen something just means 12 of them. a couple somethings just means two of them.

if theres 4 h atoms on the molecule then theres
also 4 mols of h atoms on the mole of molecules
the molar ratios stay the same when you ratchet up from just one thing to 6 gozillion of them.

same with oxygen. if theres 2 oxygen atoms on the c2h4o2
molecule then it means theres 2 mols of oxygen atoms on the mole of c2h4o2 molecules

by 6 gozillion i just mean avagodros number which is 6.02x10 ^(23)

false

1 mole of the compound CH3COOH contains 4 moles of Hydrogen atoms; that is a 1:4 ratio.
