A popular misconception is up like the letter U - that way is supposed to stop the luck draining away. My mother many, many years ago ( in the 50's) did a favour for a Romany and she told her to put it on it's side more like a C for the luck to flow around her. My mum was always a very lucky woman when she was alive, she used to win EVERY single time she went to bingo!

It varies in different parts of the world...
In some parts of Ireland and Britain people believe that the shoes must be turned upward to catch and hold the luck or "the luck will run out." (This is the way I've always used. I have a necklace from James Avery that points up.)
In most of Europe, the Middle-East, and Spanish-colonial Latin America it is hung facing downward... they say exactly the opposite -- "it must point down so the luck can pour onto you."

I don't have any instructions, but I have a tack holder made out of about 3 or 4 welded together. I also have a coat rack that has about 2 welded together and then put on a board to hang on the wall. I hope this helps.

I have horse shoes around my house They should always be facing up so the luck doesn't run out !! It's really bad luck to do it any other way

Hang it with the open end up. Like in the shape of a "U". If it is hung upside down the luck will drain out of it.

With the opening upwards. Face down and your luck will run out.
