As a shortstop - I think he is one of the top two in the MLB right now.
Derek Jeter is very talented and a very good all around ball player. Anyone would be happy to have him on thier team.
I admire his work ethic - he always seems to give 100%. I would love to have a whole team of Jeters!
I do not know much about his life outside of baseball. (that could be a good thing)

Derek Jeter is my favorite player. He shows great sportsmanship on nad off the field. He is a true leader. He is a great defensive shortstop and has over a .300 career batting average. He is a model to many kids. If i am losing or tied in the ninth I would want Derek Jeter on my team and at bat.

I think that he's amazing. He's a great player who plays 100% every game. Although many people try to prove there is no such thing as a clutch player, Derek Jeter is very clutch. He's the leader of the Yankees and the 11th captain of the Yankees along with some really big names. He's a very good short stop who has made some amazing plays. He seems like a good guy, too.

Above Average player (top 10 SS) but when it comes to making a play he is there when you need him (very clutch). He isn't supremely talented, but has great ethic, which leads to his great over all game (he has a little power, good speed, terrific defense, and terrific average.) Because of his worth ethic and because of his "clutchness" he is the Yankee captain, not A-rood becuase he isnt clutch at all (basically jeter does it for you in the playoffs and a-rod hasnt proven to do it when it really counts). I would take jeter over any shortstop in the league (yea i know Jose Reyes) because of the way he plays and how he delivers when you need it most.

possibly one of the most perfect human beings known to man.
lol jk, not that obsessed...
but really
as a baseball player, he's amazing. i HATE when people say he's overrated. how can a guy who's been a world champ 4 times be overrated? and all his awards and everything. damnit he's awesome! so clutch, i feel like i can depend on him all the time. and all the plays he makes on the field are just amazing.
and personality-wise, he just seems extremely nice. everyone who meets him says great things about him.
i really admire his work ethic and the way he plays he game.
plus, he's one of the hottest people i've seen in my entire life.
in my opinion, he is the God of baseball.
i read this awesome quote somewhere that derek jeter was summoned by the gods to save the game of baseball, and i agree.

Awsome! Great life time batting average and OBP. Doesn't have much power but does everything else better than most other players in all catagories. Don't even get me started on the "D"! People always talk about how arrogant he is but wouldn't you be too if you always wanted to play shortstop for the Yankees, you have been to the post season in ever one of your big league seasons and won the world series a handful of times. Not to mention the millions you get paid and all the endorsements you get. And hot chicks you get to date. He owns the city.

He's a fine player, but his fans drive me nuts sometimes. I invite them to look at sites like Baseball Prospectus which show that "clutch hitting" as a special skill does not exist. Some years he is great in it, others he is awful. It's due to small sample sizes and selective memory.
The same is true of his "clutch defense." In spite of Gold Gloves, he is generally analyzed as among the poorest defensive short-stops in the league (not much range, not a great arm, too many errors).
And there are 31 players with MORE than four WS rings, including such "immortals" as Joe Collins and George Selkirk. Nobody is suggesting that they are great simply because they have the rings.

One of the best players, especially in the post season. There was a potential for a clash of egos when A-Rod came, but he's dignified enough to set his ego aside for the better good of the team.
And this is coming from someone who is the farthest thing from a Yankees fan; but I can recognize quality players where I see them.

I think Jeter is one of the best Shortstops in the game of baseball. i think its quite obvious that he is good defensively because of all the *amazing* plays he has turned, and i also think he is good offensively, saying that he is one of the best clutch hitters in the game.
