people keep saying only if you download copyrighted material. how do you know if someting is copyrighted?

If you could go to a store and buy it, or get it on amazon.com or itunes.com odds are, it's copyrighted.
If you have seen the artist on television or heard them on the radio, odds are its copyright

Do you realize this exact same question has been asked a bazillion times?
Basically, EVERYTHING is copyrighted, unless it says so otherwise.

no it's not illegal, however, limewire do disclose whether or not the material you are about to download has a copyright on it..........
