I always heard that men derive more pleasure from sex; in fact a lot of women say they can't orgasm during intercourse alone. Does Tiresias give a reason for why women enjoy it more? I know he was turned into a woman for 7 years but i can't find a place where he gives the exact reasons that women get more pleasure from sex.

It was just a justification for the confinement of women in ancient Greek society. By saying women had uncontrollable sexual appetites they could justify keeping their women away from men under lock and key. Actually it was quite similar to some Muslim cultures today.
In the ancient household women were not allowed to leave the house--except for special women-only festivals. Slaves did all the chores beyond the house, like fetching water and shopping in the markets.
The same attitudes are found in other stories and writers. E.g. Aesop's fables always malign women, describing them as constantly lustful.
Also marriages were often loveless, since women were purchased from their fathers. So keeping an unhappy woman under lock and key ensured she would not find a lover. The man naturally wanted her children to be his.
So from the mouth of the wise prophet Tiresias, comes the story that women enjoy sex so much they need to be controlled and confined.

Well the truth is that women really do get more pleasure whether they you know, or not. It is the connection that is more intense in women than it is in men. There have been a few times that i did not get much physical pleasure, but the connection was amazing! I think people lose sight of what sex is anymore and that is why they dont feel the connection.

I myself, upon seeing this question have been driven to find out SPECIFICS likewise. Perhaps (maybe; just maybe)...when this was spoken, it referred to multiple orgasms. It is well known that men 'generally' DO NOT have more than one per sexual encounter. Women can easily have 10. But Im still searching.......
Well, I searched and searched, and I still cannot find an answer, atleast not from TIRESIAS him/herself? Maybe he said this because it is true that SO MUCH MORE is involved in female sexuality. Perhaps, factoring in the womans' tendency to attach EMOTION to sex, falling in love/staying in love; safety/security, multiple O's, more 'sensitive area's'.....WHO KNOWS? Sorry.

Because back then. Women didn't have so many mental blocks that keep them from enjoying their sexual relations.
Today, we all have to have visual and voice stimulation. Mr Right!
And commitment. And then there is the worry of how to care for a possible child in our Modern World. Back then, you just had to throw up a tent and pick berries to get by.

also we tend to look at sex as a goal. we want to give you that pleasure so we know we got the job done.
in the age of affirmative action men have been taught that sex is about YOUR pleasure so we put our needs aside to focus on you. think about the arguments you and your guy have over what's dirty and sick that he wants to do.
also factor in that as women get older you sex drives increase while ours diminishes and pleasing you gets harder for us, leaving you to hunt down younger guys that can keep up.

Greek Mythology is a lot of bullshit (no offence). Men do get more pleasure from sex than women (according to proper professional doctors)
