If you know it all or know nothing at all.

No, as part of a correctly lived life contains rationales: part theories. Ideals are based on hopes, which propels one to not give up on a difficult journey (which life is).

My philosophy is that life is short and sad. The more profoundly one feels this way, the increased need to embrace theories and facts. The more realistic and less ideal--istic. The ideals are the gold standards by which we evaluate our performances, etc. The idealistic never get to this point, as they are consumed with the vision and lose sight of the whole picture.

It isn't possible to live as your question poses, without being sober.

Yes, but that would make this person my "late" brother in law. He was a robot without a conscience. He did a job that would normally pay 50-60 K per year, but, made only $15,000 because he didn't want to leave the employer that was ripping him off. He lacked any moral compass, and ended up doing terrible things to his wife and children. He died literally from a broken heart, but, not before the words "I forgive you" was said to him by his wife. I think those words are what ended his life. Guilt ridden and alone he died by himself in an empty hotel room, poor and friendless.

It is more impossible to live with theories and ideals than it is to live them...

Theories and ideals are necessary only to neutralize dis-ease and dis-function, and to fill the voids negatives create... just as invention is needed to fulfill painful deficiency...

In that light, Science is essentially one great garbage processing system, and the archetype of the great cultural toilet...

Disheartening to accept a world without joy, without creativity.
