I'm on dialup, I connect at 26.4k and have a great pc at home. So while I do get into SL and find that things do eventually load, it usually takes me several minutes to respond to anything. I heard about SL viewers, so I went looking. Found one called SLeek....... what does a viewer do exactly? It seems to me all I can see is the text, and if all I wanted was text I could visit most any chat. Even though I have dialup, and can't do much, I still want to be able to use avatar chat. Any advice on which Second Life viewer will work for me and allow me to be in world and see something besides just text? Thank you very much :)

Thanks for your reply.......I live far out in the woods, and there's no other choice for me as far as connection, no DSL, nowifi or cable... I could get satillite, but I think it's too expensive. I even looked into using my phone as modem, but we don't have a very good connect witht that either, so, no EVDO. I may have to move to have decent internet

first off, SLeek isn't compatible with the SL grid ATM because of the upgrades they have made lately, also i couldn't get SLeek working and i'm on a broadband connection so you best use the lindon labs version, third the game uses tons upon tons of Jpeg images for everything from the ground to things you cant even see without zooming in on and each one has to be downloaded, keeping in mind that at broadband i still take about 3 minutes to get compleately downladed then you cand use dialup for sl. its bad enught on cable with the lag so dialup would be like hell on desktop serously. also upgradeing your connection would be good when surfing the web. trust me on this i have been on both. heres a good tip too, if you live in a sub division try getting a WIFI card (if you dont already have one installed on your pc) and mooch off your nebors, if theres no encription you will have broadband good enught for SL so in review to use sl you need :
*offical SL client from: http://secondlife.com/community/downloads.php
*broadband connection of some sort (mooched wifi, cable, dsl, satlite)
*windows XP or 2000, OSX or a newer version of linux.
*sl account from: https://secure-web4.secondlife.com/join/
