I agree with ___X. Fender strat or tele but you are the only one who can answer that question. You should have a good idea of what you want so get out to your local music store and play a few and see what you think. I don't know how old you are but I doubt you're buying your last guitar. We all keep looking for the next new thing.

I don't know what a new Fender Stratocaster goes for these days but that would be the one I'd go for. In my opinion, the Stratocaster is the perfect "rock" guitar. I bought mine in 1976, I still have it and always will. I've had other guitars over the years but the Strat has been, and is, my favorite.

Could depend on what style of music you play or what look your going for, sound you prefer.

Ive got fender telecaster custom, its good both distroted and clean.
Gibsons gotta be one of the best. Ibanez aswell.

Put it this way if your paying 500-600 for a guitar then its going to be of good quality. just gotta find one that is right for you, suggest going to a good guitar shop and trying out a few different ones before you decide on what one you want to buy

Why does a dude have to answer the question?

:o)

I would have to go with e Epiphone Les Paul as well. That's the only guitar I play. Hell I even have an Epiphone Les Paul Money Bass.

I'd go with a Fender Strat. But, that's just me. You need to go noodle around a bit with a few in the store (No "Stairway", please! LOL) and see which one feels right to you. Every musician has his "Lucille".
