This molding is a white, finished molding that they say is made of a vinyl composite. It's really nice because it won't have to be painted. However, I'm afraid to nail it as it might shatter. Anyone have any great ideas?
Thanks

I use it often, but certainly if one uses a large enough finish nail even wood molding will split. I spent $80 at HD for a small compressor and brad gun. The best $80 I've ever spent in my life. I use it on the Vinyl molding with no problem.

What you can do certainly is used 4 D fisnish nails OR WHITE, ribbed, paneling nails, and predrill the molding.

Hi, and no, you wouldn't want to try nailing it,that doesn't work out to well. They make a caulking Adhesive, made specifically for that type of moulding. It's called Foam and Plastic Moulding Adhesive. If I remember, Macklinburg Duncan makes it, so does 3M, Liquid Nails, Dap. It should be displayed next to ,or around the moulding aisle, in any Hardware Store. You'll also need to remember to get a Caulking Gun, if you don't have one . Clean up is with Mineral Spirits, which is actually just Paint Thinner,so if you don't have any of that , and use a rubber mallet to tap the moulding in place,if necessary. Byee

You could install it with a 18 guage nail gun.If that is not an option you could pre drill 1/8 hole and hand nail with finish nails.Use a nail set tool to recess the nail head so you won't damage the molding.

I just did this two hours ago, it saves on cutting in along the floor. I pre cut everything to fit and even painted the butt ends that landed next to the door trim. Fill the nail holes and touch up. You are thinking along the right lines.

You could try liquid nails or a construction adhesive. Just make sure you get it right because it won't budge once you apply it!
