I'm 17 years old and I record musicians in my house alot. However, my parents told me I have to pack up my stuff cause its taking up too much of the house. So I need to create my own studio...somewhere else.

I have a ford expedition, and not much equipment (i can pretty much all fit in the front and back seat, leaving the trunk completely empty.)

I had an idea that I could make some kind of outdoor tent, but some tarp on the ground, and set up my stuff to record.

however...that tent thing costs 1500 bucks. i cant afford that. so I need to think of something thats portable, protects from light wind and freak showers, and is under 250 bucks. it only needs to hold a small drum kit, a few amps, 5 people, and a laptop, and i dont need a power source. im willing to put the time into building something myself.

Any ideas welcomed! I just dont have a place to record.

Search for one of those outdoor used storage buildings. I have seen them advertised for under $100, in fact I have even seen where they will give it to you if you will come and take it away. These are the kinds of buildings that you see behind peoples houses, usually made of wood or aluminum. good luck.

What about an old travel camper? You can get one pretty cheap off of ebay or craigslist. You might need to fix up the inside a little bit but would be fun to decorate to fit the vibe of your music. It's portable and already provides seating (and usually a bathroom!)

Do you charge for the use of your "recording studio"? If so maybe a storage unit would work, it would probably have to be a climate controlled one. If you can figure out how much the unit would cost, you could then charge your "customers" accordingly.
