Well I have seen child molestors come into my jail that were in their 80's...does his age justify letting him go?

Age has nothing to do with the arrest if the crime is serious enough. Now, am I going to bring an 80 year old lady that called the cops for a prowler in her window, and upon further investigation find she has a speeding ticket outstanding...NO

It is common sense and critical thinking and applying them to the job.

I live in the northwest, and we are so often hearing on the news or reading internet news, where cops are using or have
used excessive force for handling people they arrest. Well
this is not necessary for all people. Those who aren't compliant, are on drugs, or are known felons, etc probably
deserve the extra manhandling. But we've seen people down
on the ground with cops kicking them or tazering them multiple times. We've read where inmates in prison have
been beaten so severly they were declared brain dead. But
those cops on the streets are getting more abusive according
to our news and video at the scene. All the cops get is time
off from duty til things cool down and the public forgets. We
never hear more on the stories again.
Fortunately, I've never seen a reported senior guilty of a
crime on TV. I would think they'ed be in the minority.

Realistically, it has to do w. the individual cop.

Too many put on the uniform, & decide they're going to go by the letter of the law, no matter who it concerns!

That's why we see that 1 cop may let hulk Hogan's son go, even though he was 4+ miles over the speed limit, with just a warning,...yet I get a ticket in Fontana, ca. for aledgedly crossing 2 sets of double yellow lines, with no cars coming (& th cop then gave a ticket to an elderly man that pulled into a medical clinic, to take his wife to the doctor (I was also taking my elderly dad to the doctor,.....cop didn't care!!!)

This is true. We can be arrested just like anyone else and for the same reasons as anyone else. We seniors do not live by a separate set of laws. If I sell drugs out of my house they will arrest me and confiscate my house, or car or whatevers. This is good because I know a lot of slimy seniors. I don't want messed up seniors living around me anymore than I want messed up younger people around me. A BIG GO FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT one of which is my son.

I believe that that is true. All they see is someone that they must get under control and their adrenaline spurns them on to use force.
I witnessed two 90 year old women fighting over seating. It didn't matter that they looked frail, when quiet. They were scary, anyway.

Why should it make a difference? If you are elderly and you robbed a store or shop lifted or molested a child or tried to steal a handbag,or worse murder someone,or hurt someone due to road rage, by all means arrest them. They deserved it.

I think they treat everyone just as mean and nasty
Doesn't matter how old or young you are. Back in the day they treated everyone with respect. Cops are getting a bad rap for a good reason.

I sure hope not. A crime is a crime regardless of the age of the suspect. I am not talking about very young children.

I do know that in Jacksonville, Fl.....an elderly lady in a wheelchair was "tazed" 12 times and died at the hands of the police. She was a schiezophrenic and had a knife and a hammer in her hands...but I doubt she needed to be tazed 12 times.
