" Just wanted to share a quick tip with everyone that I heard on the radio this morning. If you own a gas grill and want to check the propane level without un hooking the take try this. Start by boiling some water in a pan on the stove and then pour the hot water over your propane tank, then rub your hands over the side of the thank. Where the tank is cool/cold is the amount of propane left in the tank. Where the tank is warm it is empty"

Pour a cup or so of boiling water down one side of the tank. Quickly feel up and down where you poured the water. You are looking for the line where the tank changes from quite warm to quite cool. That is the level of your propane. If it is quite hot outside this works better if the grill is actually lit and running on high as that causes the propane to be quite cold.

You got to be kidding... What does water on a gas container have to do with how much is inside. Can you re-frase this ALOT?
MAYBE you heard something about putting the gas bottle IN a big bucket of water and seeing where the water came up to the side of the gas bottle. If it was almost empty, the bottle would roll over in the water. ?????? Details please.
