We've essentially done and seen most everything on Earth (a few places left to explore, that are particularly hard to get to) but then you look up, and notice it is pretty mightily much bigger up there than down here, and there are way more things to see and explore. So, the point of equilibrium (of interest) shifts towards space.
We know the earth is about 4.5 billions years old; we know the universe is about 13 billion years old.
We know the Earth will be gone in 4 or 5 billion years; and we only have a few theories that contradict each other about how much longer the universe will last, but all of those predict a universe that will outlast the Earth by billions of years.
We know the Earth is 6370 km in radius; while the universe is 13 billion light years wide, as seen from here.
The Earth is puny, the universe huge.
There is very little contest in sheer size of things to explore.

Well--I can only speak for myself. I'm a socialscientist/historian--and my interest stems from that (plus a 40 year addiction to science fiction!).
The core of human progress is the search for new knowlege and opportunities. With all its faults, wars, and injustice--there is always that underlying push to learn more and use that knowledge to make things better. My roomate calls it the "dark, glittering edge" between what is and wht is possible.
Space travel (and astronomy) take us to that dark glittering edge of ne knowledge and new possibilities. For myself, I can't imagine NOT being fascinated.
Ad astra!

Because the Human Race keeps doing the same things over and over-here on earth--getting off the planet--and staying off--offers the best chance-for humans to evolve--to a different level---i personally believe that humans-where made-to evolve and leave this planet--sooner-or later

Humans by nature are a very curious species. If we werent so curious, we will be stuck in the stone age. Curiosity leads to knowledge, and knowledge leads to advancement.

Maybe you and I share that interest, but I know people who think astronomy and space is boring and a big waste of time.
