I see this question asked every day about feminists and women. Supposedly women have equal rights or special rights. So women still have equal or special rights in spite of the facts that: Men are in control of the majority of big businesses (many women are opening their own businesses because of the glass ceiling), Men make up the majority of Congress, the Supreme court, and the Executive branch (men also make up the majority of state and local political leadership positions as well); Men are in control of the majority of Religious institutions (women are barred from being leaders in many churches), the average American man makes more money than the average American woman (regardless of the reasons, it's a fact), more women live in poverty than men (regardless of the reasons, it's a fact). So I'm to assume that since this is the way it's always been, it's a man's basic right to control every part of society? I'll take your privileges over the ones women supposedly have anyday.

A recent survey conducted by the WAGE Project revealed that 70% of women reported unfair treatment in the workplace. More than half of these women say they continue to work under unfair conditions despite being aware of the inequality. The survey also found that working women rank equal pay as one of their greatest concerns along with the lack of affordable, quality child care and the lack of health care benefits.

I agree with you. It's a man's world. The ones on this forum just like to fuss and whine. It's not attractive. I work in state government. I think there is more chance for equal treatment in the civil service system.

You sure know how to start something. What amazes me is that so many on this forum males and female alike are so antagonistic toward feminist. What arrogance to bash people because they want equal treatment under the law.

That is not to say that there are no women in congress just not as many and majority always wins. Until we have an equal amount of women or more women in positions of power where we out number men then and only then can women have more rights than men.

Ignorance must be bliss. You're gonna tell me that a woman getting hired because she is pretty is equal to a CEO who runs a company? That's the kind of blind optimism that makes people go to Disney world every year instead of putting money down on a house. What would you rather be a lonely grip or the star of the movie?

In bible it says that Eve ate the apple and she gave it to man and he didn't eat. And god did say to the woman," All your wants will be to the man and he shall dominate you." These are not my words but what the bible says which by the way was written by men. This is religious text unchangable and immutable. For you to say that women have power is for you to sound ignorant and infantile.

Does not a King have more power than and Queen, a prince is higher than a princess? God is a male, Jesus is a male, Moses is a male, Buddah, Allah, Mohammed, males get my drift?

There has has never been a woman president in the US or a vice president. A woman has never run IBM, Microsoft, Intel or Pentium. I challenge you to find women more powerful than those I have mentioned herein.

EDIT- Oh brother, the person who posted this question is correct. There are more men in a position of power which means that as a result they control the decisions that are the most important such as access to education, housing, healthcare, employment.

That is not to say that there are no women in congress just not as many and majority always wins. Until we have an equal amount of women or more women in positions of power where we out number men then and only then can women have more rights than men.

Things have changed for the better over the last 30 years or so. But there are still some ways men have the edge, When women take their cars to be repaired and try to explain the the binging noise, how quickly the service rep, gives you that I do not know what you are trying to say lady look

Feminism killed equality and set themselves on a destructive pattern in the workforce. And if you really consider that everyone has to be equal you are traveling down the wrong path. At best, we can ask for similar according to our credentials. Trying to be something you cannot be is ludicrous. The superwoman ended in the 80's when women realized they couldn't be everything to everyone. Men don't get special treatment. Women now have choices. But nothing is fair and never will be. This isn't and never will be Eden. Everyone gets to try for what they want and isn't that great. But to try to make everyone even in all aspects is just crazy. Be who you want, get paid for it and move on. But a woman CEO who leaves her children to nannys and child care isn't realizing her dedications to her home and family. Who gets left out there? And when did that become unimportant? What is more important that our children and our home? Feminists destroyed this feeling and continue to. So make your decision and live with it. You only get ONE.

None. However, I can think of numerous special treatments and rights that women have, that men don't.

Why aren't feminists speaking out against discrimination against men?

Also, some of these women answering are saying stuff like "not having to go through childbirth". Sorry but what does that have to do with special treatment or basic rights? That has more to do with biology, and all of the laws and "treatments" in the world will not change that.

I think of special treatments as being treatment by society. Rights are inalienable rights determined by our creator. Rights are also determined by law and the US constitution (or the constitution of whichever country you live in).

In Western countries, the denial of signing up to be in the Infantry in the Army.

This is not the case in other countries, such as Israel - it doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman, if you want to get shot at, you can!

To the fella above me citing "auto mechanics", er, wrong honey.....I did all my car's body work, engine work and if I wanted to pursue being an auto mechanic I would have......It got old.

You could watch the attempts at jokes, though. It is when we think we know it all that we cease to be relevant beings in debate. Be careful.

Men are "allowed" to register for the Selected Service.

Men are granted "freedom" from certain parental rights of a child if they choose to not be married to the mother. But they are granted financial responsibility, however.

I've heard an argument that because the constitition refers to the role of President as "He" that it disqualifies women from running. (the 19th amendment only cover suffrage)

(BTW - car mechanics will screw over a guy, too, if they think you don't know anything about cars. - there's no excuse to get screwed over by an auto repair, go in armed with information and they'll likely not mess with you. Perhaps the problem is that women - in general - are more trusting?)

I agree that women usually pay more for their auto repairs then men, but I also agree that any woman with any intelligence about auto repair wouldn't. Also, anyone who's not too keen in this field would pay more than they should have to.

I don't really think that either sex (in Western culture) gets any different basic rights than the other. Basic rights are just what you said...basic. Everyone has them. o.O;

As for special treatment, sometimes pretty women get things because of it. Drinks or presents or other materialistic things. Is that what you really care about that? Material items? :p

It is accepted when a man acts "perverted" or to show sexual desires or to even have more than one sexual partner. A women is still looked at like a slut.

A women is still looked at like an object not a person.
An object can never be equal.
I blame the media and silly girls that have low self esteem and need attention.
If men cant help it, and women can, does't that give women more an advantage?
