Insulting one vet, is insulting all the others.

Lord, why is that man still in office?

On the day that we can stop saying, "How can you SAY that!!" to anyone who challenges the way we think... we will become reasonable and honorable. The reactionary tone on both sides of the debate inhibits understanding, it prevents us from making reasonable choices, and it turns us all into hypervigilant jerks... which is why many people in other countries think that we are very dangerous... we are, in fact, the richest, most highly armed country in the history of the world... we could nuke our enemies off the face of the earth with little effort. We must not dishonor the men and women who are in harms' way at the direction of their commander in chief... they are generally decent and brave people who have their own private beliefs about whether this is a rational thing they are called to do. (many do not) Some of us, loyal Americans, feel that the current president was not legitimately elected the first time around, beleived that he would find some excuse for armed conflict and that we would end up with a huge deficit and a loss of face in the world community... and it seems that we were not far off. Some of us, loyal Americans, did not see any of the alternatives placed before us as a better choice, and presenting dangers of their own. Some of us, loyal Americans, find it distressing that the political debates are about such useless things as debasing people who have long since lost the champaigns rather than ways we can address the lack of literacy and healthful diets among our children.

Did you hear that Bush called the Constitution "a GD piece of paper"?
http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artman/publish/article_7779.shtml
I bring this up because your "finger flippin' Kerry" story from NewsMax, like the "GD piece of paper" story in Capital Hill Blue, just doesn't hold up under close scrutiny.

1. The Washington Times pushed NewsMax.com Kerry rumor
---- "The cameras of CNN and many networks were at the event and did not report the alleged incident."
---- "Along with the transcript of Limbaugh's June 1 broadcast (headline: "Charismatic Dud Flips Vietnam Vet the Bird!"), Limbaugh posted on his website a photograph of Kerry speaking at a podium, holding his hand aloft. Limbaugh blurred and pixelated the image of Kerry's hand -- as if to obscure Kerry's raised middle finger -- and captioned the photo "EIB Photo Montage." ["EIB" stands for Limbaugh's Excellence in Broadcasting Network.]"
http://mediamatters.org/items/200406030001

2. The Politics of the Vietnam Memorial
---- "In 2004, when Kerry visited the Memorial, right wing media outlets like Newsmax started a rumor, later discredited, that Kerry gave the middle finger to none other than Ted Sampley."
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/3/21/22359/9544

3. O'Reilly on NewsMax.com: "a good website ... for conservative listeners"
---- "Media Matters for America has documented numerous examples of misinformation published on this "good website ... for conservative listeners"
http://mediamatters.org/items/200411150005

4. Ted Sampley (the ALLEDGED recipient of the "mono-digital salute")
---- "It's also the same Sampley who headed Vietnam Veterans Against Kerry and was responsible in 1992 for faking a photo of Kerry allegedly shooting an American MIA in Vietnam."
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Ted_Sampley

Bottom line... this Kerry rumor, like the Bush rumor, would make for "hot" news. I think it's a fair assessment then that the mainstream media would have bombarded us with the headlines if either story could be substantiated and collaborated.

You say "No lie"; I say "Yes, it's a lie".
You say "Insulting one vet, is insulting all the others";
I say "You owe us all an apology".

Well technically you had two sources, the Canada Free Press and Newsmax (If you can honestly call them a non-biased, reliable source.) In fact your Newsmax source says that he flipped off one guy for heckling him. Three of your four links got their story from the same webpage

So it was just fine and dandy for the Swiftboaters to defame Kerry? And no he isn't an Anti-American traitor btw. Remember, when you insult one vet, you insult them all right?

But still that was a stupid move of Kerry to flip off a war vet/ war vets.

Newsmax?? Gimmeabreak.

Here's a suggestion for you...do a search of the lies and distortions of Newsmax and get back to me.

The rest of your proof is merely personal blogs, hardly convincing evidence.

If the story of the encounter at the Vietnam wall is true, that Vet? deserved to be flipped off.

You are an opinionated ditto head who wouldn't know the truth if it smacked you along side the head.

You are a traitor to the founding principles of our nation...the ability to speak out and question our government.

You don't want dissent, because you don't want the truth.

You are as un-American as they come and a betrayer of our Constitution.

Please leave and take the 29% brain dead with you who still believe Bush has been good for our nation.

I could have a more enlightening encounter writng a note to my toilet bowl brush then responding to your traitorous views.

You can cry and whine and report me now...I don't care..people like you are what's ruining our nation.

No lie. Just typical conservative distortion. Even your own link confirms that Kerry directed his gesture toward one individual who was obviously harassing him in an effort to try and elicit some reaction. If you're going to try to make something out of nothing, at least provide all the facts.

Your innuendo is a repulsive effort to discredit and tarnish someone whom you transparently dislike. It would be like a liberal posting a question that asked, "Did you hear that Dick Cheney told Congress to go f**k yourself?" Cheney was responding to one member of Congress just as Kerry was responding to one heckler. Your hatred, bias, bigotry and prejudice is a blatant example of your need to fuel political infighting instead of presenting solid, credible, honorable information that might enhance your political agenda.

Chidish name-calling, juvenile insults, flagrant embellishment and immature taunting only shows your true colors as someone who can only resort to repugnancy in order to make his point. -RKO- 09/22/07

One war vet? What did that vet say to get Kerry to flip him?You being a paragon of virtue probably have never flipped off someone?

I would actually like to see who it was he was looking at.

As for the 2004, I can't blame him. Anyone who would question my service or honor would get the same thing.

Yes, I come from a military family, including a father that served in Nam, came home, couldn't handle the stress and shot himself. I have family serving in Iraq now, so please don't bother questioning my patriotism.

Sorry, but you know what's worse?

Someone telling the troops mission has been accomplished, but they are still dying to this day to get that mission finally accomplished.

did you spend the time to actually READ the links?

it says a man from vietnam veterans against john kerry was tellign a bunch of schoolchildren that kerry betrayed the soldiers, and that kerry didn't deserve to be by the wall because he "didn't belong there"

tell me: if you served for your country, did incredible and brave things for your country, and then a group of conservative nutheads who weren't even around when you did those incredible things started claiming that you're a liar, wouldn't you be pissed off too???????

Your question is deliberately misleading. He flipped of one vet who was being an ***. You also imply that he did it as an insult to vets. This is also false. He did it as a result of being harassed.
