I'm a white male who lives just outside of Boston and right now they're having a huge problem with Affirmitive Action. Up until this summer the Boston Education System repeatedly permmitied grants to a program called METCO that only accepted finnancially challenged minority children. This summer a court ruling forcefully made them accept White children into their program and they went up in arms over the issue calling it "unfair and unjust." I believe it has reached a certain point in which it becomes easier for Black people to get jobs then White people. Whatever happened to best man for the job which keeps the competitve drive in our economy which excells it to it's full potential?

And before you make coments I consider my self a Democrat so that has nothing to do with it.

As for METCO look it up!!!! And actually there is a quota for the minumum amount of White employees a company can have. Before you critizise get your facts right.

As for being a Democrat I stand opposed to the Iraq war, against illegal immigration, for gay marriage, on edge about Abortion, opposed to Bush and for the theory of evolution to be taught in public schools. Not all Democrats are alike.

(Response to rabble rouser) I know what case you're talking about which happened actually in the next town over. That case has nothing to with Race so don't drag that into this.

Affirmative action is racist and should be abolished

But I am curious: How can you elect people like Kennedy and Kerry, and then expect anything different?

Sorry Mr Democrat, you have no one to blame for this situation but yourself!

Just like black people you can't blame your skin color for not getting a job. So why do whites run around screaming "reverse racism" when you have no idea what the other person's qualifications are, and then criticise blacks for doing the same? You have no access to hiring records and therefore can't prove that an unqualified black got a job over a more qualified white, so really what do you know? It sounds like an excuse to make yourself feel better for not getting a job you wanted.

As for METCO or whatever, I can't possibly say because you haven't given enough information other than your own bias slant.

Its been over the edge for a long long time. You are right about all of it. My school district also had a similar sounding program.

wasn't it a white male from "just outside of Boston" (as you describe yourself) who shot his pregnant wife and blamed in on two black guys?

you see, it could be your perception that is a problem....

I do believe that socioeconomic prejudice is growing more common than racial prejudice... but black folks are still getting the short end of the stick compared to whites.
