There are 4 versions out right now. These are the Pro, the Core, the elite, and the Halo3 special edition one.The first one and the cheapest one is the core.
The core is just the beginnig console. It cost $279 only, so it won't break the bank. But it has its downs. It only includes a componet cable, the console its self, and a wired oncontroller. This is for the guy who would want to customize the xbox and play multiplayer ALL the time. If you only want to purly play multiplayer and don't care for HD, the chrome finish, or having only a memory card, then go for the core (I highly suggest to skip this one).
The Pro is the on most people buy and is in the middle. It costs $350 so it only costs 80 more bucks. And it is worth it. The pro has a 20g hardrive, a console with a chrome finish, a wireless controller, a HD componet, the power cable, HDMI WITHOUT the cable(for the recent ones), a 1 month gold suscription, and a headset. If you download content for more gameplay, have a hardrive to play your favorite video games on single player, have an HDTV, go for the pro.
The Halo 3 special addition one is for the big Halo fanatic. It has a olive green plating and a gold finish, everything in the pro(except the controller and console), play charge accesory, exclusive halo gamer pics and themes ,and a special addition olive green xbox 360 controller. It has all this stuff, but you will have to pay 50 more bucks than the pro. The only thing truly different is the color of the system and it has the Play charge thing. So if you are the halo fanatic, want to play halo3, Dot everything you would with the pro and more, then go for this console.
the Elite is the console. Its is the best console of the four. It cost $450 dollers, so if you are trying to save money don't buyu it.. I has a 120 gig hardrive, a console with black plating and a chrome finish, a black controller, everything the pro has (minus the console and controller of course), andHDMI WITH the cable If you love downloading on site. Love to watch movies anf Tv sow in HD, and want the best gaming experincs, than go for the elite.
All in all, all the editions are good, Like I said earlier the core sucks. But all the others are great. I hope one is the best for you. Now go buy a 360 and enjoy all the joy microsoft will give you
P.S please post the one you would want to buy the most on the board at the end of this.

your best bet is to get the pro. its about $349 right now, and it comes with a hard drive, which will be very important if you want to play halo, skate and gears of war so you can save your game, it also comes with a wireless controller, and a headset. the core system is 279 and doesnt come with a hard drive or any of the other little goodies the other two come with. and a 20 gb hard drive alone is $100. an elite comes with a huge hard drive and a lots of goodies, and its black. its also $449.... if you get the core, youd end up spending more than just buying the pro and getting less. but, if you have a lot of money and want a massive hard drive, then go for the elite. but, id say getting the pro is probably your best bet.
if you want to use xbox live you either need a wireless router or an ethernet cord to plug into the xbox from the computer. if you want to go wireless you have to buy the wireless adapter for the 360 to pick it up the signal, but that costs $100. if you are near a computer, just go out and buy an ethernet cord for 10 bucks. but if you want to go for the wireless, then you dont have to be right next to the router, a couple rooms away will probably be fine.

For confident players who play Xbox Live often, Contains
20GB HDD

If you want the full Experience, get the Elite.
Happy Xbox Hunting!

There are basically two configurations for you. There is the Premium and Elite. The only difference is the color (Premium is gray, Elite is black), size of hard drive (20GB for Premium, 120GB for Elite) and HDMI port (Premium doesn't have one).
If you don't have a TV with HDMI or you don't plan on downloading a lot of demos and arcade game, then the Premium is fine for you. You can get it for $350.

As for Xbox Live. You do not need to be near a computer. You just need to have an Ethernet cable run to the console. If you want to use the system wirelessly, then you will need a wireless router and the Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter.

You will have to pay for Xbox Live Gold if you want to play online. Your best deal is the Premium Gold Pack.

Don't get any of them.
Almost a third of XBOX 360 are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only 0.3%.
Let's compare them
PS3 has 8 kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3x2
PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 50 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular DVD (4.7 gb).
Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second
Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second
PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in card reader (except 20 gb version), ability to use printer and so on.
Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.
PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers
Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers
PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)
Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 130 $
Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of doom" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 8 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it.
Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is a uninventive nerd (as usual).
When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.
In 2008 we'll get more than 300 games.
In some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".

it does not near to be near a computer but you need to be able to reach it with your network cable from your home network or buy the wireless receiver. cheapest way is to buy a used one from ebgames or somewhere and buy a hard drive with it. comes to 275 ish i believe. best is to buy a new pro, you will not have to worry about the red ring of death. don't buy a elite unless you have a tv that is HD other wise your wasteing the HD cables. anyways good luck look forward to see you online
