hey! so im sure u learned about the whole "diamond" approach to solving this thing.. right? well anyways, it doesnt work for this problem. so theres this formula that i cant type.. but basically: x= -b plus or minus the square root of (b squared - 4ac) all divided by 2a. in this case.. a=1 (the first term of the problem, the imaginary 1 before the x2) b=-10 and c=40. so put those in the formula and just solve it. u'll get a messy number, but thats just how it comes out.

What is the question?

The function has no real factors; it has two imaginary roots.
The imaginary roots are x = 5 +/- i*sqrt(15).

The equation is a parabola with vertex at (5, 15). The parabola is concave up (like a U), and never crosses the x-axis. Its domain is all the reral numbers and its range is
y >= 15.

What's the question?

y=x^2 -10x + 40

is a nice function which yields a value for y for any value of x you plug into the function

But what is the question?
