the founder was from new zealand bruce mclaren. so why is the company now british?

if it was brought from a british person who used to own it from another person, orginally its still a new zealand company ?

The late and great Bruce Mclaren had already moved to england and raced with cooper, before he started Mclaren, the team was started in england..I bet Bruce is rolling over in his grave with this spy crap with Mclaren now.. RIP Bruce I remember how great you were.

The racing team, and all successive businesses under the McLaren name, were founded in the UK. Bruce had already moved to Britain in order to race with Cooper. When he started his own team, he stayed.

The company is not "now" British. It has always been British.

The thing to consider is that New Zealand used to be a British colony. But, the truth is, it should be according to where the company was founded. For instance, Ford was founded in America; therefore, it's American. Toyota is Japanese even though they have dealerships in other countries besides Japan.

Its the same as a lot of football teams like Chelsea, with all the imported foreign players, they are hardly a London team

britain generally takes credit for anything or anyone from nz who has become a success. NZ has moved on from Britain but not the other way round.
