The best thing to use if there is any slope at all is a metal roof such as Snap-Loc. This panel can do down to a 1/4 : 12 pitch, and is available from http://www.bestbuymetals.com/. They can also provide you with diy installation instructions. If there is no slope at all on the roof then rubber or EPDM is the only way to go.

it has to have some drainage, like a 1 or 2 inch slope, mine is flat,20' x 20' but slants ,2 inches,
lay down a good felt base, use a roll type roofing, [not enought slope for shingles]
or a rubber covering,
