Pride and Prejudice is sparkling and witty and has a happy ending. The way people talk is both difficult to understand and absolutely fascinating to try to figure out. I also like the subtle barbs that people throw at each other and the way their social interactions are so full of undercurrents! I love this book now, but I might have needed some help with it as a younger person. The various movies (there are several) would be useful as the dialogue makes more sense when you see it acted out, but don't skip the book. It might also be fun to compare the different movies and the book. There was a Bollywood version called "Bride and Prejudice", the classic BBC version, a modern day version where all the characters are Mormons!, and then the recent new release with Keira Knightley. The BBC version is the most faithful to the book.

I also really loved Brave New World which gave me some profound new ideas when I read it as a teenager. It is easier to read, but its philosophical ideas might be harder to understand.

Jane Eyre is gothic and depressing, and I feel the same way about Wuthering Heights. So much Romantic excess. Didn't these people ever just get some fresh air and exercise?

Tess is pretty depressing too. Haven't read Don Quixote or Robinson Crusoe. But I reread Pride and Prejudice often.

They're all mostly really good books.
My favourites would have to be.
Jane Eyre - Charlotte Brontë
Wuthering Heights - Emily Brontë
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen

It also depends how much you like to read. If you're not much of a reader you might like Wuthering Heights or Pride and Prejudice seeing as they are the smallest of the three. In paperback the page count goes as follows:

Wuthering Heights - Emily Brontë: 315 pages
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen: 382 pages

They are both equally good books and I would recommend either one.
Now if you're more of a reader you could read any of the three you like. Jane Eyre is the longer and more tedious of the three but still a very good book. The paperback version has about 480 pages. These are also the most girly books in the list. Well, hope you enjoy whichever book you choose.

Well I haven't heard of most of these books but I would pick Brave New World - Aldous Huxley
because it sounds the coolest. But I have heard Pride and Prejudice is a good book and plus it has a movie ( right?)

NOT Jane Eyre. Oh God. Anything but Jane Erye.

But really, Pride and Prejudice is a great book if you can get through it.

Brave New World because it is the newest and shortest and easiest to read and most profound and most entertaining (I can't believe they haven't made a movie out of it yet!)

austen/bronte/bronte may all be good but they are long and boring!
