when you succeed at something "impossible" you can become an instant stud and live in fear because the world is putting pressure on you to continue being perfect and accomplishing difficult goals. as a friend of mine Calvin from Calvin&Hobbes states:

i find life is easier to live after i lower everyone's expectations of me.

Well I fear both as both are equally crushing to my ego. If you fail you feel as if you wasted your time and let yourself down as well as others and that doesn't feel all that good. But if you succeed with something that people said was impossible then the expectation they put on you are even greater and that could lead to a downfall as well as it's a lot of pressure to continue to be consistent as nothing will ever match excellence except for perfection and if you don't achieve perfection or even excellence the next time around then you will be seen as a failure and that can crush someones spirits as well. I would rather have people have low or even no expectations of me so that if I do accomplish something there is a sense of okay this person can do it but they don't shoot high then for them to have such high expectations for me that i can't meet and then they look at me as a total failure or disappointment.

Yes. I've always said that I don't want to do X 'cause ima fail and make a full out of myself, but in reality it's 'cause I don't know how I would deal if I actually succeeded. So foolish I know.
