Please let me know places to visit in europe, starting from Amsterdam, for a 1 week trip in October last week?

The trip would probably begin and end in Amsterdam. I would like to travel to Switzerland/pragues etc. Will one visa do for whole of europe. Where to find the best deals of hotels?

Do not overfill your travels. A week is rather short to do more than two cities.

If you want to see some contrasts, go to a town and a village (or two,) Paris or Cologne are easier to reach from Amsterdam, do not forget it also takes time to travel from one country/town to an other.

These will give you an impression how long the travel will take by train.
Flying mostly costs about half a day, unless you have an early afternoon flight, in that case most of your day will be lost. (That is the time it takes to get to the airport, check-in, safety and the 30 minutes you have to be at the gate before boarding, flying time, passport controlle, waiting for your luggage, time to travel to town.)

If you have not been to Europe before, consider one of the Belgium, smaller Dutch, German or Northern French towns.

You can also do one of the Europe in a week tours, prepare not to remember much when you are back home again, make a lot of pictures, as you will 'see' 3 towns in a day, one day for Paris.

Each country in Europe speaks its own language but in most English is widely spoken, if as second or third language.
For hotels, you can google 'cheap hotel' and the name of the town you want to go to, or you can buy a good guidebook, I prefer the Lonely Planet series, they list hostels and hotels, with prices and quality warnings where needed.

each of majorl cities have subway,tram,bus,U-bahn(for germany).Very fast trains between London and Paris.TGV trains are faster like the germanian trains are.

Hotels
Hotels in europe are expensive.If you want to stay in downtown city you need very much money because is very expensive.Most expenisve is Paris.
