1.) Round 43.8516070 to the given place

2.) Solve. Identify any nymber properties used.
.(25*7) + (25*3) . 82+67+18+33

3.) Estimate by rounding each number tp its greatest place value position. Then find the actual answer.

a.)7903*387 b.)76/19836

c.) 24/14100 d.) 82/885.6

e.) 7.2/275.184

4.) To travel on an airplane from New York to Milan and back costs $825 per person. How much money will be paid to the airline for 436 round trip passengers?

I'm not sure why the answer sharks did not jump all over your question. They are easy looking enough. There must just be too many parts.

Ok here goes

1 rounding to the thousandths means 3 places after the decimal point, think about 1000, its the same as the number of zeros. So 43.852 (round-up)
ten thousandths =10,000 =4 zeros, so you need 4 places after the decimal point. So 43.8516

2. Sorry, I'm not getting this one at all.

3. Ok, now if I understand the concept of greatest place value position correctly, this is what to do.

a) there are 2 numbers , one has 3 digits to the left of the decimal, one has 4 digits to the left of the decimal. So take the smaller one and round it off to one digit which means rounding 387 to 400. Now that we rounded the first one to hundreds, then we must round the next number to hundreds, which is 7900. Now Do the math,multiply, 400*7900=3,160,000 This is the estimated answer.
387*7903=3,058,461 This is the real answer.

b) real answer =0.0038
estimate 80/19840=0.0040

c)real answer =0.0017
estimate 20/14100=0.0014

well, you get the idea on 3) now, I'm sure

4) Just a simple word problem, But by using units all the way though you can check your answer.

Total Cost = (Price/person)*(number of people)

The 'people' on the numerator and the 'person' in the denominator cancel out, leaving only money, which is what we want.

Total Cost = ($825/1 Person)* (436 People) = $359,700
