The Republicans have refused to debate issues important to black and latino/hispanic voters. Yes, they have refused other debates. But these two debates are the only I can think of that spoke to issues specifically concerning blacks or latinos. Minorities are union members, people of faith, teachers, law encforcement, and members of all of the groups and portions of society whos votes are sought and candidates make a point to address. But being a minority brings about issues that white america simply does not face on a daily basis, and rarely address.

Now, I am a independant. But based simply on the refusal of all of the front runners in the refusing the invitiation to join this debate, I will be voting Democratic for the presidental race in 2008.

Now, they are playing politics and just as full of crap sometimes as the republicans. But at least they had the decency and intelligence to show up, and at least pretend to care.

NO, AS A BLACK WOMAN I SAY WE ARE NOT TREATED AS EQUAL IN THIS WONDERFUL COUNTRY OF OURS. IF YOU DON'T AGREE, I DO NOT CARE. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO AGREE IN ORDER FOR ME TO BE RIGHT.

RACISM, IS AS AMERICAN AS BASEBALL. ( I KNOW I DIDN'T SAY APPLE PIE, I DID IT INTETIONALLY)

Let me ask you this. Why do Black and Hispanics need their own special debates? Are they not Americans too all equal under the law? Or are they special and deserve special treatment. There will never be complete equality in the country until minority quit seeing themselves as "special". Frankly the minority story is getting old and tired. I'm a woman, Italian, and a veteran. All I've ever wanted was to be is equal. Try it.

You sound a tad angry. Why is that? Do people treat you different because of your color or because of the way you act? You need to look in the mirror and take a good long look at YOURSELF. You are the problem, not society.

Republicans call it "The Southern technique". the idea is to have regulations so racist and so abhorant to knowledgeable individuals, that the Southern states vote for the Republican. It has worked properly for 40 years. of direction, the Republicans assume sufficient uneducated and racist White persons interior the South to grant them the sting. even as the "Southern technique" nevertheless works, this is been dropping floor interior the only top few elections. Republicans are including anti-hispanic and anti-mexican regulations to their anti-black regulations in an attempt to get some extra states of their wallet. TIme will tell if their replace in technique works.

You're very naive if you think one can win/lose an election at the Presidential level based on race.

Sorry, but white voters compose of 80% of all American voters. This does NOT mean white people who don't care about minorities, nor does it include minorities who don't care about themselves either.

And if you think out of the war, taxes, dollar stability, immigration, privacy, race should be made a higher priority, be my guest. Don't vote Republican (not that I will, unless its Ron Paul)

Why should I have to pretend to care to win someone's vote? And, if I am just pretending, why in the world would you allow that you decieve you into thinking that I really do care about you?

I don't know how to structure a debate for minorities without enlarging the gulf between races. Shouldn't our politics be about bringing us together? Aren't all issues of national importance equally important to all races? I want a politician that stands for his beliefs regardless of who he or she is talking to. No pandering allowed.

Who is considered a minority? I am Cherokee and would that make me a minority? Hmmm! I live under and with the same Constitution you do. It states that we are all created equal and what you do with that equality is what will dictate your future. You can sit around and declare you are being pooped on if you want but you could also be a participant in the great Freedoms you are afforded by this Country. Try your shenanigans in another Country and see how far you will get.

Why would Republicans want to court minorities? Why would any politician want to court minorities? How about courting COMMON SENSE??? If you work and pay taxes you should vote for people who want to cut those taxes..PERIOD!! If that makes a party evil, then count me in. If the DEMON crats were offering to let me take home more of my money I'd vote for them. they're not and so i don't. Republicans offer to cut taxes, and then didn't, so they got voted out in the last election. If they continue to be demoncrats, then I'll vote independent.

Screw courting someone over their color...isn't that profiling? How can you be for profiling? Or are you a hypocrite who LOVES profiling when it's beneficial, but whine about it when it's detrimental??

Racism is as American as baseball? And racism is a strictly on the shoulders of white people? Hmmm..gee how unique, a black woman stating that it's whitey that causes the problems. wow, have you checked out the HR dept at ANY company and see who gets the freebies? Lower GPA, poorer work history and FIRST to get a job? That'd be you, sweet baby.

Ref: EEOC enforcement of quotas. Of course black owned businesses get a free pass on that too.

To Cactus:

Cherokee, Chickasaw, Creek and other Indian tribes in the Cherokee strip owned black slaves, so you don't get a free pass either..except most history books don't talk about that, and black folks seem to only go after white people. For now they're not gonna hit your tribes up for money, affirmative action and general race card games. But think positive, one day maybe you'll be considered an instant racist just because you were born with the right color of skin. It's EASY being white, all you do is survive birth and the world is handed to you on a silver platter. I know I've been white all my life and it all was handed to me.

You want your candidate/president to PRETEND to care? What would that serve? You're going to vote for a party because they showed up, regardless of what they say and whether they really mean it or not? And you're just going to vote democratic without choosing a particular candidate to support? Weird.

Besides, why aren't the regular debates enough...? I don't really get it.

The debate forums they were supposed to debate at are too "slanted" and a "set up" and the republicans are more about being the right direction for the country than a certain group of people.

If people want to consider a bunch of candidates telling them what they want to hear instead of holding firm on decisions the loss will be theirs. One day Hillary is for the Blacks, the next day she is for Latin's and naturally if the group is gay she supports that one too. Then she tries to push herself off as being moral. I don't care what people do sexually as long as two adults agree to it but trying to cover all the bases just does not work. Racism is the common phrase used by those who lack the responsibility to advance in life. Notice successful people of all races have no problem going anyplace. Losers of all races complain about racism. The blacks say whites are holding them back while the whites say racial preferences for blacks keep them from getting ahead. I taught my children to judge people by their actions not the color of their skin and I practice what I taught them.

Well my wife's a black woman and she's a republican who went to college like me and worked hard for her good salary.

She read your question and thinks it's dumb how you're so obsessed with race, and you believe the democrats are helping blacks.

How do you ask for the votes of minorities? Give them welfare? Isn't that saying they can't work for themselves and racist?

How you responded to sway_27's answer showed no intention for a healthy debate. PS: You're not right.
