Yes, and not that this is relevent to your question but I have always found it to be interesting, my family is of Sephardic Jewish descent and carries the sickle cell trait just as well as a lot of Arab families do.

From what I understand, the answer is yes. Dates back to the days of the Old Testament. I think twins Abraham and Isaac (not sure) but one is the father of the Arab nation and one of the Jews. There is a story about these two brothers arguing over inheritance, I believe this is the root of the problems that exist today.
PS I'm NO expert but this (or something like it) is what I've heard.
*** Nanae: speak for yourself, if you came from monkeys that's great. But I didn't.
***Obviously I had a partially correct answer. I defer to those above me, Ishmael and Isaac, the sons of Abraham.

Yes, Abraham is their natural father. His son Ishmael produced the Arabs and his son Isaac produced the Jews. They didn't get along well way back then and they still aren't.

In the sense that they are Semites, yes.

Of course, in another way, and according to the prevalent theories, we're all from the same family--the offspring of an original human ancestor.

Which I've always thought was cooler than anything.

Yes they are, the Arab genes are carried by Abrahams step-son Ishmael that was birthed to by his mistress Hagar that he used for having children due to Sara's infertility. Then by a miracle Sara gave birth to Issac dispite her infertility who was the son that carried the genes of the Jewish people (and generations later lead to the birth of Jesus and Christianity). It has been proven through DNA tracing.
