They like art, are sensitive, creative, nonconformist in at least some ways, may be open to experience, and can probably see things the rest of us cannot. Of course, I am assuming that they like art history and are not doing it for some other reason.

All the people I have known who studied art history, seemed to be trying to take the easist thing they could find to study just to appease their familys idea of them going to college. they ended up with degrees, but went on to find work in many different things. they just seemed to go to college to appease the family.

The first thing that comes to mind for me is that that the individual is smart and is looking to find answers from what we as humans have done in the past to answer current and future questions.
