Check out http://www.anime-eden.com/ . It's my favorite anime community. They have over 150,000 members (of course no where near that active), and multiple topics to discuss. They have dedicated boards for the most popular series, role playing areas, sections for showing off or requesting art, fanclubs, and multiple off topic areas. Give it a try, and you won't be disapointed.
