Whenever I run DVD movies or watch TV video feeds on my computer the system idle process increases dramatically. Would adding more Ram help? Can some adjustment be made to my computer to reduce the system idle process usage?

Don't worry thats a good thing... it means your computer isn't working very hard... it's just idle... it's a problem when this number is low!!!

System Idle doesn't "eat CPU cycles". If your Task Manager shows System Idle at 97%, that means that you're only using 3% and 97% is available for use. venny

I'm not sure whats going on with your computer ,we had similar issues with both of ours until I installed windows live one care it gets rid of viruses spyware, tunes up your computer, gets rid of files that are not needed and will prompt you to do a backup after everything is straight.I give it an A and we've been using it for two months. You don't even know its running in the background.Good luck to you in getting your computer straight.

"System idle process" means that your system is idle. Windows will use those idle cycles to perform maintenance.
