Many a fisherman has tales of huge fish even in very small ponds. They study and plan how to catch these fish for years. So you might call them cryptozoologists piscatorial. I personnally had an Uncle with a stock tank (Texan for pond) that absolutely knew he had the biggest fish in Texas in that tank. He said he saw this fish a number of times rolling on the surface in the evening dusk. If listened to with trust he would speak of the time the fish knocked over a steer.

Anyway, he passed away without ever catching that fish. He would never let me seine the pond either. He did let me fish for it and I did lose many corks and hooks in that tank. His kids sold the ranch as they all lived in the city. The new owner drained the tank as he wasn't running cattle anyway and he wasn't a fisherman. There was a mudcat 49 inches and seventy pounds of length and weight snuggled down in the bottom. It made the local paper, but that was 50 years ago. The paper doesn't exist anymore and the ranch is an old subdivision.

There is a rumor though, that the mudcat was dumped into the Brazos river and ate a volkswagen in the late 60s..

Actually,
Here in the USA there are no accredited colleges, or universities that even offer any type of formal scholastic programs that offer a “degree” in crypto zoology. Thus anyone can simply refer to them self as a cryptozoologist. Just as anyone who looks for treasure can call them self a “treasure hunter” And those interested in paranormal activities can call them selves “ghost hunters”.

This is not to suggest those interested in these types of activities are less than sincere in their beliefs.

Although the motives of several are indeed quite suspect.

Here are a few sites you may enjoy viewing though.
