Basically, when Christijan Albers left Spyker, they needed some time to find another driver- so they recruited Marcus Winkelhock for one race only- he started the race on wet tyres, and when it started to rain he was the only one that didnt need to pit so he went 33 seconds ahead when all the others went in for wet tyres. However, the race was red flagged when it started to rain too hard and they all went back to the starting grid- and because he was in a Spyker he was overtaken by many others and ended up retiring (as A-Spec Spykers usually did...).

Then Spyker found a permanent driver Sakon Yamamoto and Winkelhock was no longer needed on the team.

Markus Winkelhock, a German driver for the Spyker - Ferrari team, retired with hydraulic failure on lap 14 I think (aren't I sad knowing this?)

I think he went back to race for the GP2 series. Not sure though! He already made history with his lead at the European GP! I still can't believe that!
