I am travelling to Mumbai soon and like my sports. Staying near Nariman and would like to get out a bit before sitting in a conference all day. Can anyone recommend any good running routes around Nariman? Or even a good swimming pool? There would probably be a few of us running - is this the "done thing" in India, or would it be completely unusual and perhaps best not recommended? Or perhaps there are some places where the Mumbai jogging community go to?
Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks!

Welcome to Mumbai. You will be staying at Nariman Point, which is on the sea.
1. The best option for you will be to jog/ run/ walk on the Marine Drive walkway. Its a neat 4 kms walkway from Nariman Point to the Girgaum beach (locally known as Chowpaty).
2. There is another option for running at Priyadarshini Park ( PDP) but that is about 5-6 kms away from Nariman Point near the Malabar Hills. So for PDP , you will have to take a car/ cab . A taxi will cost you 50-65/- INR one way.
3. On the Breach Candy Road ( also known as Warden Road), there is very good running track in a place called Amarson Park. This is very close to the US Consulate on the warden road.
4. You can also jog/run/walk at the Race Course tracks at Haji Ali. The park opens at 6 am. From Nariman Point, its about 6 kms.
5. For swimming, you may try the Body Rhythm Club,
General Bhosle Marg,Nariman Point. Landmark: Next to Y.B. Chavan Center.
6. There is also the Breach Candy Swimming Club on Warden Road, near the American Consulate.

Marine drive promenade is the best and nearest bet for you. Travelling in Mumbai to reach somewhere ever 4 or 5 kms away like Priyadarshini Park ( Nice surroundings) pay pose a traffic jam problem and loss of time to you.

Swimming Pool- please enquire where you may be staying. Several hotels offer pools. Else Mafatlal Bath near Charni road station and bang on the chowpati is the best for swimming.

If you are going to be in Mumbai for a longer duration, enquire at Cricket Club ( Brabourne stadium). Nice facilities. Great surroundings.

People are aware of physical exercises nowadays, so don't worry about whether this is a "done thing". Several people do exercise in India.

Wish you nice and atheletic stay in Mumbai.

You are going to live in Nariman point. beach is near to nariman point. go to the beach and run alonge the coast os the sea. If your hotel is a 5star then it will contain a jogging trac and a swimming pool you will not need to go away from the hotel. You are in Mumbai so i will say do a Mumbai Darshan(mumbai tour) it will take your whole day but it is worth it
