I have wondered that myself. The only explanation I can think of is that maybe the Raiders management is afraid he might just succeed. Think bout it, If Culpepper does great and the Raiders make the play-offs, who does that hurt. It hurts Russell and after all the money the Raiders just forked out to him, that's the last thing they want. What if Russell replaces Culpepper next year and bombs? It's Al Davis's worst fear.

I don't know, McCown has shown us why Detroit was glad to get rid of him. This is one worthless turd masquerading as an NFL QB. I don't think a lot of Culpepper, but if he knows any of the offense at all he's GOT to be better than McCown. I don't think it's possible to be worse than McCown.

culpepper really should be starting ahead of mccown, but the fact that he isn't just shows that lane kiffin has no business coaching the raiders.

i think it's cause culpepper isn't as mobile as McCown and McCown knows the playbook better..
I think we could do better with Culpepper because he'll risk throwing it deep.

i heard that the raiders arent starting culpepper, even though he is worlds better than mclown, because he has some playing time and snaps incentives in his contract and the raiders dont want to pay him that extra bonus.
