I just had the same thing happen to me today. According to my LMP I am 4 weeks 6 days along, I went in for my first prenatal appt, urine test showed positive but when I had the ultrasound there was no sac to be seen yet. My doctor told me there were two scenario's #1 I am too early for him to see anything (which he really believes is true) He said it all depends in some pregnancies you can see the sac this early, in some you can not. #2 It could be an ectopic pregnancy (which he said was less than 1% chance. ) I was very distraught at first about this, but the more I read and heard things from other people who have been through the same thing it turns out to be scenario #1. I go back for another ultrasound next monday. Best of Luck to your friend!! Tell her to try and not stress over it too much.

It is definitely nothing to worry about. The same thing happened to me. I had a trans-vaginal ultrasound at 4 and 1/2 weeks and the doctor told me there were no signs of me being pregnant. They could see no baby, no sac, and during the pelvic exam my uterus wasn't even enlarged. The doctor was finally able to see the baby at 6 weeks. I am now 17 weeks. Tell your friend to relax, everything will be fine!

Yes 4 weeks is very very early. Plus their s no way way off noing she is 4 weeks. She could be 3 weeks or 3 weeks 4 days etc which would make a difference. Its going t be hard not to worry , But hopefully all will be ok

Yes i had an ultrasound at 5 wks and they couldnt see anything, then i had one at 8 wks and you could definetly see something, so just wait a couple more weeks, she is still to early . you have to think the embryo is the size of a grain of sand right now! amazingly tiny!
