Lycoris albiflora, also known as the Resurrection Flower. They grow up in the spring, die off and disappear, then reappear as a tall stalk later in the year and flower briefly. We have some in our yard which my mother planted, and which my wife now tends. Mom is deceased, but I think of her every year when I see those flowers, and I remember what a strong believer she was in Christian Resurrection.
