Someone who has lived several lives already(or so they say).
A child for example, who is rather quiet and serious. Who enjoys talking about subjects other kids would find boring. When someone asks"what's with her/him?"you would say"Oh,nothing. But she/he has got got an old soul, you know."

What is an old soul? I asked myself this question one time, and found an answer, one simple answer - though to comprehend it you should not have a weak mind or thinking that you, and only yourself hold the answers.

An old soul is that part of you that gained knowledge through different life times (many). The oldest soul is Jesus Christ, and the first one had to be God (the first being) - theoretically.

Now the first soul is a animal. After few reincarnation in that state (as an animal) you reincarnate yourself into an human being. You will never reincarnate into an animal after entering the human state. The soul of the animal and the soul of the human is different, two groups - life is complex. Now after numerous reincarnations (transfers from one human body to another) you gain more knowledge (cosmic knowledge). But some do not and they remain, not new souls they do get older but they have no knowledge (cosmic).

So an old soul is that soul that has vast knowledge.

An old soul is generally one who has learned how to stop and listen - to the silence. Younger souls are usually much too preoccupied with developing themselves into something more worthy. Old souls are those who walk along the river banks and stop for a moment for no reason at all, and then sniff the air. Old souls are those who you ask a question to, and they think for just one moment and in that moment of silence, they pull out an answer that blows you away with its insight. An old soul can occur in anyone from a toddler to a genuinely old person, as can a young soul. And both are valuable in their own way, both are necessary. Both contribute something irreplacable to the whole that is "us".

A spiritualist would say that an old soul is one who has lived on earth several times before, others would go further and say that an Aries person has the youngest soul whilst a Pisces has the oldest. Sounds ok to me

it is someone who is born with basic knowledge that it takes others a lifetime on earth to learn, if they ever do
this type knowledge is more along the lines of spiritual and about humans, and being human
basic things like : there are many paths to God, you dont build yourself up by putting others down, violence is wrong, no worries about an "afterlife" and where they are going after this life on earth, because they have a sense of the spirit continuing,
it is referred to as an "old soul" because it is different, and in many cases a person was able to retain it inspite of it not being recognized in their youth
actually, many are born with a great deal of knowledge, if those around them would look for it and encourage it, those recently arrived on this earth are clearly able to tune into the knowledge they brought with them, if they do not tune it out or have it drowned out by society
