the Schenpf farms pumpkin and chili party. this is something I take my girls to every october (this will be our 4th year doing so.) it's located about 30 mins east of scottsdale so you'll need a rental car or family to drive you there. it's totally worth taking your kids to. they have rides,a train, corn maze, pumpkin patch (to pick your own pumpkin), face painting, smores for the kids, and dinner if you wish to purchase it. it starts Oct 4th and you can get discount tickets at any Fry's grocery store (there should be several located near where you are staying). here is the link-on the left hand side, click on the event calendar link then scroll down towards to bottom to find the pumkin and chili festival info (under Oct 2007)

McCormick-Stillman railroad park. this is a fun park for the kids to play in. it has two playgrounds, a rideable train (tickets are 1.00 each i think), and a train room w/real trains setup. located in scottsdale.

Scottsdale Fashion Square is a 3-story mall located in the middle of scottsdale. my girls enjoyed walking around this mall.

The area is teeming with water parks, arcades and theme parks. Sightseeing to Oak Creek Canyon and Tucson are popular. There are a number of museums and Pueblo Grande which is a 700 yr. old Indian pueblo situated in the center of Phoenix. Everything in the area is geared for the youth. There are swimming pools everywhere, lakes, rivers, and the fishing is good all year round. Phoenix has more parks than any city in the world, but most of the land is desert mountains which offer hiking, horseback riding, and beautiful desert views. You will have no difficulty finding places that will make your kids happy.
