I had gotten a ticken when i was 15. Actually there were 2. one was disorderly conduct and one was out past cerfew. I went to court and they assigned me 60 community service hours. I was told to get them done in two monthes and come back. I did not go back because i was a minor and my mom would not take me and a minor can not go to court alone. I am 18 now I got a lawyer and he took the bench warrants away and I was told to get the community service hours done. Well there were a few situations that make it impossible to get them done. My court date is in 2 weeks and I do not have the hours done. Will I go to jail? I work 55 hours a week and my manager said she would write a statment saying so. I am also in college. I just want to know if there is any way the judge will put me to jail. I faced the music right when i turned 18 payed a lawyer 1500 dollars and am in the process of getting it all taken care of. what will happen?

It depends, mostly on the judge, but a good letter from your employer and school may help, the judge could sentence you to some jail time, possibly jail after work/school until the following morning (work release program) or give you jail time on your days off (weekends).
You may just get luck and the judge will convert the community service to a fine.

Good Luck to you.

Have your manager and your college profs write letters stating your work hours, class hours and any good things they can about your work ethic and study ethic. If you are a good employee and student, the letters will show the judge that you have changed and he may waive the community service. I don't think you will have jail time. It depends on the judge. Just be nice and HUMBLE. They want to see that you are changed and sincere in the changes. Good luck.

$1500 for a lawyer? the tickets themselves would have only cost you $700 at the maximum....you got ripped off and probably deserve to go to jail now along with that leech of a lawyer.

If you explain your situation to the judge he will probably be understanding about you being in school and working as long as you haven't been in trouble since then. Just be honest with him...I wouldn't see him tossing you in jail for misdemeanors like that so long ago.

You will have to do the community service, and pay your lawyer. Get it done on time next time and don't make excuses. Hanging out with your girlfreind was not a good reason to not finish your hours.
