I am a South African . English is not my mother tongue either but I can tell you one thing there is not much of a difference between American and English. The Americans spell a lot of things differently. I have a huge fight with the spelling checker every time I post. For example my dictionary says Colour and theirs says Color. The put "Z's" in all over the place as well. Plough becomes plow etc. Just a bit weird in the beginning but you will get used to it...... eventually.

Hello Italian Girl,
I'm a yank - certainly I think American is better to be than
English. Of course, I'm reasonably sure that our friends
across the pond would state just the opposite for the same
patriotic reasons.

HI! Nice to hear from you! I think Italian is a wonderful language and more romantic than either English or American, either of which is about equal.

Hello Italian Girl, I love your language, it beautiful and melodious. American English is so diverse....many slang's and terms used in different regions to mean something totally opposite of what the original word means. *smile*

I don't think that one is better than the other.......variety is the spice of life you know!

American is NOT better than anything. Being American is having to accept slavery to the American economy. American language was created in order to be different that the English spoken in Britain. True English found in Britain is more proper language than what is spoken in Amerika. Nothing that is Amerkan is better than what is found outside its boundaries.
