You are going to get a really cheap camcorder for $100. Try $350+.

One, don't ask others what to do, how would/should we know whats best for you?
Books are good for learning and exploring new thoughts, but if you're just using them to reinforce your way of thought, then you're not using them to their full potential. I'd recommend exploring new subjects like the genetic basis for morality...
A camcorder is useful for recording and sharing memories with family and friends, and is basically a fun toy.
Enjoy whatever you choose and have fun.

Personally, I prefer making videos and my camcorder and I are joined at the hip.
Books you read once, but camcorders can save so many memories.
