MgI2 + 2AgNO3 = 2AgI + Mg(NO3)2

2I-(aq) + 2Ag+(aq) = 2AgI(s)

Mg2+(aq) + 2(NO3-)(aq) = Mg(NO3)2(aq)

NB This is the classic test for halogens. In this case silver iodide precipitates out as a yellow solid.

MgI2 + 2AgNO3 -----> Mg(NO3)2 + 2AgI

Ag+ + I- ----> AgI

You can work out the rest now.
