Circulation coins are not "pure silver." They are alloys of mostly silver with about 5 or 10% copper. As for what kinds of coins they are, that's relatively meaningless without the all-important condition.

Coin shop can tell you, or go to a library and find a coin collector's book. Last resort: buy one of the many coin collectors books at a coin shop.

Look in your yellow pages under coin dealers .
The assessments are usually free .

Whatever you do, dont sell them to jewelers, they won't even give you the metal value.
