Do you think this is fair?

The result of Title IX has been more opportunities for young women and less opportunities for young men.

The reason: fewer girls/women by percentage want to play sports compared to boys/men. As a result some boys/men do not get the CHOICE to play sports at their schools.

Despite good intentions, Title IX had/has resulted in thousands of boys and men being denied the opportunity to play football or wrestle (e.g.) because their programs had to be canceled to comply with Title IX. Thanks, Title IX.

The casualties have been the good but not exceptional and average male student athletes in wresting and football. The scholarship male athletes are generally unaffected.

Reasonable and fair but there are times where it doesn't work A school with 120 boys and 80 girl or just the reverse. An all girls school or all boys, I think what is more fair is that if 50% of the girls are playing sports than 50% of the boys should be able to play. There is another question that comes in here also maybe more girls want to play sports and less boys. Does that mean that the girls then have to under go paring to accommodate the equidity of the sexes, I would hope not. I would also put out the question if a girl wants to play but isn't very good does that mean the the team has to keep her to meet the standard? I also hope that this isn't so, but I would love to see less and less importance placed on school sports and more placed on learning. I think that it is ashame that I can ask the Captian of the football team to reduce the price of an Item by 15% and he does not know how to do it. This isn't the answer that you expected sorry.

On average, men are built to be bigger and stronger, taller, etc. But there are always exceptions. I think having females participate is great, as long as they are *qualified*. For example, African-Americans/blacks dominate many sports, such as basketball and American football in terms of sheer number. But does that mean that they are discriminatory against asians and hispanics? Not really.
Asians and whites dominate figure skating, particularly because their bodies (on average) suit the sport the best. It's really not discrimination.

So yes, there should be equality between males and females in sports, but only under the condition that both retain the same requirements and characteristics needed to play.

gender equity isn't meant to be LAWS, but rights and common sense... it should mean that both should receive respect for their work.. males and females are different the problem with humans interpretation of gender equality is that they think it means behaving in the same manner... Opportunities should exist equlally for both and each male or female, as they usually approach a situation differently they should each have to right to do the job their way... This is what will allow for great role models from both sexes.

Its stupid. Athletism is an industry, and therefore is governed by economics. If more people care about men sports, then there will be more male athletes. Sorry feminists, but i´d rather see a soccer/rugby/football/basketball match than a herdball match, which is basically what women´s sports are.

I think school sponsored sports teams are nonsense, however I do believe that setting aside a certain amount of sports or spots on a team for just females is just silly.

No, because girls are not as interested in sports as boys are. Now because there has to be equal numbers, that means that fewer boys can participate. If only 25 girls are interested, and 100 boys are, then only 25 boys can participate.

Very unfair.

Enforcing a law like that inevitably leads to a watered down sports structure based on the lowest common denominator.
If we are looking for mediocrity then this is the way to do it!

Did you really expect serious answers? But the thing is that we live in a "free county" and if the reporters want to go in and the players don't object, there is no problem, at least legally.

Why cant they just have it that if 1000 boys want to join then 1000 get in. If 100 girls want to join, then 100 get in.

Why does it have to any other way. What is the reasoning behind what you are talking about
