Yes, and I'd say "But mom, I don't want to eat lucky. I loved lucky" and she'd slap me and take me back to the closet. I have issues.

My parents understood that sometimes I was hungry and sometimes I just wasn't. Normally I would finish though, but my parents also let me put my own food on my plate for the most part so they would say only put what you're going to eat and if you want more add more.
My grandma on the other hand wouldn't let me drink or eat before dinner because that would fill me up and dinner was very important to her. She wouldn't make me sit there until everything was gone but she would make me sit there until I tried new things.

When I was a small kid would have the following regime day in day out. Get up 6am..eat branflakes, goto school I was always there around 7am..I could play on the grounds. At lunchtime would eat the meals given me..usually a warm meal. After school would walk home and then get forced to eat strawberry sandwiches whilst I made my homework. Somedays would get a clip across the ear if I found the sammys too many..the taste was awful to me and I hated it. Get another clip across the ear and then finished up the homework before goin out to play for about an hour. When I got back was sent straight to bed. Jackanory, Magic Roundabout was the last program I was able to get to see before being rested. If I protested or made any kind of sound against eating the sammys would get another clip across the ear and sent straight to bed without anything at all.

Nope. They knew that it this is the reason why so many Americans are obese. Their parents would force them to eat all the food on the plate. This is probably due to the fact that the baby-boomers parents grew up during the Great Depression and knew harder times. The next meal might not have been for a few days.

Yes, they pushed me to always become a member of the clean plate club. I think it was a good idea and it teaches kids to eat stuff that's good for them at mealtime and not waste food.
It annoys the heck out of me to see kids throw away half a plate of food and then come back an hour and a half later and ask for snacks.
Especially meat fish and poultry items should never be thrown away off of a plate. That was a living animal that someone killed to bring to our table. It is disrespectful to kill something only to throw it into the trash.

My mom is the best cook ever so we would always finish our plates and if not whenever we would ask anyone if they wanted what we didn't finish they would take it lol and we always save anything we didn't finish for leftovers, but even if we did only finish a little my parents would never do that

NO, but I did always have to have to taste everything that was being served. It forced me to try new things and for that I am appreciative. Although I did not get anything else after dinner if I did not finish at least 75% of what was on my plate.

My Mom and Dad tried to do that to me one time and I fell asleep in my plate. My Dad felt so bad and never did it again. I personally think this is what causes a lot of people to have eating issues and eating disorders. Food was always an issue in my family because I was so think they tried to make me eat more and since my Mom and sister were obese they were always dieting. I refuse to do this to my daughter. I give her small amounts and let her eat until she feels full. It works out well.

Yes my mom was crazy like, and I swore I would never do that to my kids... Over the years my mom soon realized it's not good to force your kids to eat everything on their plate, they grow up thinking they have to finish everything on their plate and this can cause obesity.
My son is a defferent ballgame, he never eats! So no I don't force him to eat everything but I do ask him to eat at least half!

Cleaning your plate became a moot point when one night my very tired little sister when told that she could not leave the table until her plate was cleaned, took the plate to the trash and swiped it clean!
After that my parents were stronger advocates for trying a little bit of everything that was offered for dinner, instead of eating everything that was on the plate.
