Definitely the Knicks. They've spent all that money and has one of the highest payrolls in the NBA, but the team still sucks.

Tough question, because there are so many candidates.

The Knicks have a high payroll, but they had one back when Layden was fired, and Isiah somehow managed to bring in a lot of young talent even though the team he inherited was complete garbage. The team showed a lot of improvement last year, and Dolan doesn't mind paying the $100+ million so why not spend it?

The Wolves have been inept for a long time, since they were never able to put pieces around Garnett, but I liked the trade they made this summer. They have a bright future.

The Hawks need to be considered. They somehow managed to accumulate a glut of young forwards while not addressing PG. If they had drafted Chris Paul or Deron Williams over Marvin Williams that team would be one of the best in the East. Drafting Law will help, but that team still has issues from ownership down.

The Lakers also need to be mentioned here. The Lakers traded Shaq for Odom and Butler, which wouldn't have been an awful trade had they not gave Butler to the Wizards for the piece of crap otherwise known as Kwame Brown. This team can't decide whether to build for the present (appease Bryant, trade Bynum) or the future (play hardball with Bryant, keep Bynum). Trading Bynum and Odom for O'Neal wouldn't help them. If they want to build for the present they should find a way to land Artest, who'd be a perfect complement to Kobe and would probably come cheap.

The Pacers can also be mentioned, Larry Bird has somehow turned a perennial playoff team into a lottery team, and trading for Mike Dunleavy (that alone should get any GM fired) only made things worse. That team's been nothing since it lost Reggie.

Finally, I'll mention the Celtics, who I think made a huge mistake by trading their entire future for Allen and Garnett. KG will give them a few good years but Allen is washed up. They could have had Jeff Green or Corey Brewer, even Yi if they wanted him, as well as their other young players, and the first rounders they game to Minnesota as well. Plus whatever they'd get for trading Pierce.

Anyways, I'd go with the Lakers, Hawks and Celtics.

Knicks, Wolves, Grizzlies.

Before the big Garnett trade, I would have definitely said the Celtics. But let's wait to see how that turns out -- the Lakers' experiment with Kobe, Shaq, Malone and Payton was a disappointment, so let's see if the Celtics turns out the same way or have more success. Either way, Danny Ainge will get the credit or blame.

The Atlanta Hawks come to mind and the Memphis Grizzlies as well and Portland Trail Blazers although they were beginning to turn the corner until they found out Odom is not going to play this year. Durant looks brighter and brighter every day.

The Knicks. Isaiah Thomas was a great player. But he ruins every team he's affiliated with. He's a terrible coach and GM.
